Academic Excellence At Discovery Ranch, Baker wins 2015 NATSAP Service Award
When it comes to talking up our teachers or academic program at Discovery Ranch for Girls praise comes easy, however it’s nice every once in a while to receive that praise from outside sources! Our very own Micah Baker, Social Studies Teacher here at Discovery Ranch for Girls, has won the 2015 Employee Service Award for the Southwest Region NATSAP (National Association for Schools and Programs).
We want to congratulate her and thank her for all she invests in the girls and colleagues at the ranch! This award is presented annually at NATSAP regional conferences to honor direct-care staff “honor direct-care staff who go above and beyond their job requirements to provide excellent service to clients.”
According to Clint Firth, Academic Director at Discovery Ranch, “In addition to being the Social Studies teacher, Micah also is in charge of the Experiential program at DRG, and is our Lead Teacher. Her passion for learning in all subjects is the stuff of legend. She is as comfortable teaching students about origami, sculpture, rocket building/launching, the humanities, frog dissection, statistics, and astronomy as she is about history. She seems to be an expert at everything she teaches. Micah is a great example to the other teachers of consistency, hard-work, and classroom management. She is also an example to the students of how to be passionate about what you do, but also taking care of your own needs.” Bottom line: “She is truly a foundation stone that we all rely on here at Discovery Ranch for Girls.”
